Global constants in (2+1)–dimensional gravity

چکیده
The extended conformal algebra so(2, 3) of global, quantum, constants of motion in 2+1 dimensional gravity with topology R × T 2 and negative cosmological constant is reviewed. It is shown that the 10 global constants form a complete set by expressing them in terms of two commuting spinors and the Dirac γ matrices. The spinor components are the globally constant holonomy parameters, and their respective spinor norms are their quantum commutators.

Simulating Four-Dimensional Simplicial Gravity using Degenerate Triangulations
We extend a model of four-dimensional simplicial quantum gravity to include degenerate triangulations in addition to combinatorial triangulations traditionally used. Relaxing the constraint that every 4-simplex is uniquely defined by a set of five distinct vertexes, we allow triangulations containing multiply connected simplexes and distinct simplexes defined by the same set of vertexes. We dem...
متن کاملRenormalization Group in 2 + ǫ Dimensions and ǫ → 2 : A simple model analysis
Using a simple solvable model, i.e., Higgs–Yukawa system with an infinite number of flavors, we explicitly demonstrate how a dimensional continuation of the β function in two dimensional MS scheme fails to reproduce the correct behavior of the β function in four dimensions. The mapping between coupling constants in two dimensional MS scheme and a conventional scheme in the cutoff regularization...
متن کاملElectrostatic self-force in (2+1)-dimensional cosmological gravity
Point sources in (2+1)-dimensional gravity are conical singularities that modify the global curvature of the space giving rise to selfinteraction effects on classical fields. In this work we study the electrostatic self-interaction of a point charge in the presence of point masses in (2+1)-dimensional gravity with a cosmological constant Λ. Exact expressions are obtained for the self-force on t...
متن کاملTime in (2+1)-Dimensional Quantum Gravity
General relativity in three spacetime dimensions is used to explore three approaches to the “problem of time” in quantum gravity: the internal Schrödinger approach with mean extrinsic curvature as a time variable, the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, and covariant canonical quantization with “evolving constants of motion.” (To appear in Proc. of the Lanczos Centenary Conference, Raleigh, NC, December 1...
متن کاملSpherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...
